" Romero" By: Connie Arnett
"Alex" By: Connie Arnett
Alex is a special boy
When we see him he brings our heart joy.
We met him at our class on the street
When he saw us coming he would run and jump to his feet.
He wanted to take part in class
And would raise his hand to volunteer in a flash.
He wanted us to meet his family too-
Which we were glad to do.
His mother said, "Please come to my house every week
about God and the Bible we will speak.
Perhaps God's face seek."
This is how our Bible Study came to be
it all started with Alex you see.
I love to hear him pray
You never know what he will say.
He prayed for me when I was sick-
" God please cure the Senora real quick!"
It touched my heart that day
in such a special way.
I believe God was smiling down on us just then
and thinking it was for you I died to win.
For Alex we have a special love
That comes from God above.
He works on the street
He is always on his feet.
Shining shoes all day
without much time to play.
His little brother tags along right by his side.
From him he doesn't try to run or hide.
Romero is always faithful to our class
See him run our way ina mad dash.
Many times others he brings
and he always sings.
He listens so well
it makes my heart swell.
He is ready for us to have class again
And wants to know when.
Will it be in the same place?
He wants to know just in case.
This is the highlight of his week
once again for us will he seek.
Romero is our friend.
It is for him
that God did send.
God sent us to reach out
To kids like him no doubt.
He is so sweet.
If you could only meet...
" America" By: Connie Arnett ( The older girl in the picture is America standing beside her is Guadalupe).
When you think of America I'm sure you think of our great land.
This I understand.
But this is not always the case-
I think of a girl who would be so pretty with ribbions and lace.
But even without that she has the prettiest face.
Among the things I could mention
Her smile is what gets your attention.
She works so hard on the street
The needs of her family to help meet.
To our class she is faithful to attend
and quickly became our friend.
But when I asked her name
My feelings were hard to tame.
America to them looks like the promised land.
But this is not what God has planned.
Down here is not the place.
This is just where we run life's race.
It is Heaven we want to reach
This is what we teach.
America is not just a place anymore is my mind
But a precious little girl that God wants to find.
